Hi! My name is Jana and I’m the owner of Cocos Cal Burn. I’m a certified fitness instructor, based in Munich, where I offer English-speaking flexible fitness & dance classes for women and children. I have worked as a dance and fitness instructor for 3 years and on April 2017 I founded my own company, CCBurn, in order to offer international women in our community the opportunity to attend a guided fitness class in English, as many of us don’t feel comfortable attending sport classes if we don’t understand the language.
Why do I teach
Sport has always been a very important part of my life. As a child, I played tennis for 10 years and studied jazz dance. As I grew older I tried out various team sports (handball, soccer, volleyball… you name it!) and dance forms (Hip Hop, Video Clip Dancing, Samba, Salsa).
However, after my son was born, things changed. Suddenly I had no time for group activities or structured classes! Being a mom & school was more than enough. That’s when I started going to fitness studios and training at home with bodyweight exercises. In this way, I managed to stay healthy and fit, even during those first years as a new mom.
During my first year of training I started teaching Jazz and Hip Hop classes for children from 10 to 18 years and I instantly knew… this is what I was meant to do. I fell in love with teaching, because it gives me a great opportunity to connect with lots of people in a very positive and relaxed way. Through teaching I can help, guide, inspire & encourage others to be healthy & fit.
The (good) catch
My business, CCBurn, focuses only on mothers and children for the following reasons:
- The foundation for a good physical feeling, great coordination, good rhythm and a healthy posture are all set in the years of (early) childhood. My goal is to make sure that every child I teach builds a solid foundation for good exercising while having fun and getting to know other kids.
- A female body is very different to a male body. I strongly believe that only a woman is able to truly understand what is happening in and outside another women’s body. As a mother of a 3-year old, I’ve also experienced the changes our body goes through during pregnancy and know how different a postpartum body feels.
- All my adult classes are for women only. Women need a safe space where they can forget how they look like while working out, move freely and try out new things while feeling comfortable.
- All my classes are designed specifically for the female body, pre or post pregnancy, to strengthen and tone the woman’s shape.
CCBurn is always improving, depending on what you tell me is important. For now, we offer the following classes, but more & more are constantly being added to the schedule:
ABC Workout (Abs, Butt & Core)
A-bs, B-utt & C-ore strength training for the muscles which are keeping your body up straight. We will engage them to keep them strong, build them up and, in the meantime, work towards preventing lower back pain.
An energizing mix of dance moves, cardio fitness and great music. Find more information here.
Ballet Barre Fitness
Total body workout, combining elements of Ballet, Pilates, Yoga and weight resistance training. Arms, legs, abdominals and backseat area are a priority.
Upcoming classes (from Fall 2017)
Kids Classes (Jazz, Hip Hop, Funky Dance)
Easy to follow choreographies for children from ages 4-6 and 7-10.
Hip Hop Women
A 90-minute dance class for all women, who like to forget the world and just dance it out. Classes include warm-up, choreography and cool-down.
Jazz for pregnant women
Easy, gentle Jazz dance for expecting women from 1-4 months & 5-9 months. This class is for everyone who would like to keep moving and get to know other international women, while pregnant. Each class is specially designed for a pregnant body. Choreos are simple and flowing (no jumping!).
Mommy & Me
Special classes for Munich mommies and their children, for example, stroller park workout in the summer or dancing and singing together in the gym during winter. These classes are the best way to get in shape & make friends in Munich without having to worry about childcare!
POUND® is the world’s first cardio jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing and sweat-dripping fun of playing the drums.
*There will be childcare available for some of the classes.
**If you are living a bit outside of Munich but would like to attend some classes, I’m happy to organize something close to you with a minimum of 5 participants.
***English is the main language in every class, but I also speak fluent German (native speaker) and a bit of French & Italian.
